Carrie's Random Thoughts

Its been a long time.

Its been so long since I've written, but as I have reiterated probably too often, I have been crazy with this semster of school. Thankfully, I am FINALLY done. And thats not even what I am planning on blogging about right now. What I want to write is my incomplete, totally biased list of favorite movies that are not strictly Christmas movies, but contain great holiday scenes.

Sleepless In Seattle

About a Boy

Battleground

You've Got Mail

Bridget Jone's Diary

Meet Me in St. Louis

Little Women

When Harry Met Sally

Affair to Remember

Die Hard

There seems to be an unusually large amount of Meg Ryan movies on this list. Being typecast like that must irk her to no end. I'm sure that I have forgotten some good movies, so please let me know what your favs are if you think I've forgotten any.

  • Oh, I have a fun story about the "Sleepless in Seattle" holiday scenes-
The movie was shot in Seattle in the summer, and one day while shooting, an 8-yr old boy took a nap on the dock next to the Sleepless houseboat. When he awoke from his nap, Christmas decorations had been put up on the Sleepless houseboat. The boy's eyes got wide and he freaked out, thinking that it really was Christmas and he had slept through summmer!
    I love Seattle :)

  • Die Hard is a sweet movie. A lot of action and Bruce Willace was great. Two of my favorite movies are Shawshank and the Fugative. Did you ever check out Rudy, a story about perservance and spirit. I feel that the word Faith can be replaced with perservance in the Bible many times. The movie captures the idea of perservance perfectly. A good movie to check out if you want learn about perservance/faith. I guess that you could get the same things out of Die Hard in a more action packed way.
