Tuesday Night Prayer

It was so great- last night I finally got to go to one of the weekly prayer meetings at the River. I have wanted to go to it for a long time, but I have had my evil class every tuesday night this semester, so this has been the first one I've been able to make it to. It was so nice to be able to put aside all distractions and just have a conversation with God for longer than a few minutes. I realy need to get rid of many of the distractions that I have been allowing into my life lately.
It has been so nice to have some free time this week, to not have to run around the town like a crazy person and then fall into bed, exhausted. I am DETERMINED to not get so crazy next semester because i have kind of felt like I have let people down lately. Okay, on a lighter note- we also practiced for the Christams play, and things appear to be really coming together, and I'm so excited to see something that I have ahad a part in writing be put up onto stage.

The Christmas Skit

I don't think that I mentioned this, but I am, with Bekah Oegema, and Scott Hopkins, helping to write the Christmas Eve skit for the River. We are trying to do something different, and get away from the usual fake Christmas that so may people experince, where they come in and see the lights, sing the same songs, and then leave- never really having a real experience. We are still going to sing Christmas Carols, and Rob is going to speak, but our part of the service is going to portray real people with real issues. It has been a lot of fun, and a lot of work getting ready- including on night where we were at Coffee Works until 3am working on the thing. But now we have it all written out and supposedly all of the actors are set. We are having a practice for it tonight, and even though I'm not acting in it, I am still going to come and help out however I can- and also when I write something I cannot just let it go and then shw up Christmas Eve- whatever I write is like a child of mine, that I need to take time to nurture and grow till it can stand on its own. So, I hope that if you are reading this you can make it to the River- otherwise I'll force you to watch a video of it later, so beware!

Quote of the Day:

Me- About saying something cheesy in our Christmas skit. "We don't want to sound like Wisconsin is exploding in our mouths."

Angie's Wedding

Angie Memmott is no more- Angie Heimlich was created last night in front of loving friends, family and coworkers. That just looks so odd to see angie h. Her poor students are going to have a problem adjusting to calling her by a new name. I am so excited for her and John! It is great to see a couple get married that you have such security and knowledge that their relationship will be wonderful and strong. I have had friends get married that I just worry about their having the maturity to handle it- but I have had none of those doubts for ang and john. I think that is part of the benefit of getting married a little later. There is such a difference of getting married when you are 20 or 21, and getting married in you mid to late 20s and 30s.

The wedding was great and we had a ton of fun on the dance floor. I enjoyed it because I was at a place and with people that I am comfortable with- so I was able to let loose a little more than I usually do. Also, even though my friend Charlie couldn't come to the wedding, I still had someone to dance at least one slow dance with- Noah, one of the second graders. I saw him walking by an asked him if he would dance with me, and he simply nodded and smiled his shy little grin. His sisters (he's part of a set of triplets) were dancing with annie, but I got him all to myself. His mom and some others took pictures of him- and his mom, Brenda, called out to him "keep your hand up!" She told me later that she was worried that he would unthinkingly let his hand drop and accidentally grab my butt. But nope- he was a perfect gentleman, and we had a nice conversation about the wedding and what he is doing for Christmas. I'll see if I can figure out how to put a picture on here of us dancing when his mom sends me a copy.

Hey All!

I'm back! I'm so excited- my wireless internet has been broken for over a week now, so I have been unable to do very much on the net. I've checked my mail at work, but I don't want to take up the office computer too long- and it is hard for me to just sit down when I'm at St. Mike's. But when I came home today and started up my computer to write something, my buddy list popped right up and the internet worked. Weird. Oh well- such is life.
